Aromatic cedar is one of the many names given to this species of Juniper from the eastern side of north America. Aromatic cedar is a finely grained, lightweight, softwood with an unmistakable fragrance. Its heartwood contains a variety of colors from pinks, to red, and even purples, and is very durable, even under direct soil contact. Cedar machines, turns, and glues extremely well, with both hand and power tools. Aromatic cedar has a Janka rating of 580, and a weight of 2.8 pounds per board foot.
